With nearly 20 years of experience in interior design and residential construction, Lauren brings a deep understanding of both aesthetics and craftsmanship to every project. Known for her attention to detail and hands-on approach, she is passionate about solving problems on site and finding creative ways to bring designs to life. Her work is grounded in a love of materials — how they feel, how they perform, and how they can transform a space. She believes that thoughtful design is built from the smallest details up, creating homes that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Raised in Richmond, Virginia, Lauren has also called Kent, England and Palo Alto, California home. Lauren has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from James Madison University. Before founding Lauren Knowlson Design, she worked locally for 3north and Hanover Avenue. Lauren and her husband, Byron, live near the James River in Richmond with their two young daughters.
